NGOs

There are many who have helped, who in the time of great need have always lent their helping hands- generously and graciously. When we were just beginning, it was their emotional and physical support that helped us take another step forward and make LEAD what it is today.

Many NGOs played important roles of mentors, of guides, of intermediaries and a source of human resource and information.

Aarambh - Aarambh is a NGO which is working for underprivileged in Airoli and other parts of Navi-Mumbai since many years. Aarambh has guided LEAD in issues like child labor, child rights and empowered it with some powerful right to education clauses that made way for the Free admissions of its children in municipal school from the second year onwards(We had spent a lot on affidavits in the first year). Aarambh helped LEAD to forge contacts with other NGOs helping us create a network. Thanks to Shobha Madam.

Akanksha: Akansha is an inspiration for LEAD, theirs is an example we would like to follow. Also in other practical ways, Akansha has made a great contribution to LEAD by inviting and involving its volunteers in their Teacher training sessions when LEAD was struggling with the teaching techniques and skills. Their book also helped us getting a holding on teaching. Thanks to ShivRam and Ruchi.

Anugraha Children's Home, Ambernath: We have admitted two girls from our community due to the co- operation of Dr. Ila, the founding trustee cum director of Anugraha Children’s Home. They are getting the best of education, food, values and care due to their kindness.

Art of Living - Conducted a 4 day workshop with our children, Baal-Chetana Shibir, which focused on breathing techniques, inculcating good values in the children. This session was highly enjoyed by our kids, especially the bhajans. Thanks to Sangita madam & Richa

Ashoka’s Youth Venture:  Youth Venture provides mentoring and seed funding for young people between the ages of 12-24 to lead community benefiting ventures. Youth Ventures had selected Rupesh as one of 'Changemakers’ working for his nearby communities. Thanks to Vipin and Aditi and hundreds of other change-makers.

Childline Thane (1098): It is an Organization with is working on the various issues of the children. Thanks to their member Swati for guiding us.

Conservation Action Trust: This is one group which is working towards creating awareness about our environment. They conducted a session for our children wherein they showed them images and gave information about the different fauna and flora of the area. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and interacted freely with them. Thanks to Sheetal and Amol. See Presentation on biodiversity

DreamIndia: It is a NGO with a similar concept to LEAD that is working for the education of the under privileged children. Thanks to Padmaja.

iLead : They are an institute imparting skill training and placements for youth  from weaker socio- economical sections, free of cost. They trained and helped find employment for one of the students, Vinod, who was referred by LEAD. Thanks to Ignition Sir.

Karmayog: Karmayog has a lion’s share in bringing LEAD its valuable volunteers. LEAD has received all kinds of help from toys, clothes, educational books through Karmayog. They have also lent LEAD their guidance regarding various issues. Karmayog has proven to be a well wisher for LEAD and LEAD will always be indebted to them. Thanks to Vinay and Tanya.

Lotus Trust: They financially supported us during the year 2009 which immensely helped LEAD and took care of the expenses on their part.

Magic Feather - Magic Feather also showcased very good children's films for us, free of cost. Thanks to Nitin Das.

New Era Foundation: They had provided their premises for conducting the evening sessions for free for two months and at discounted rates for other two months. Thanks to Ameeta Iyer and Ramesh.
Umang Foundation: They donated 20 dozen note-books and two dozen long books for our children. Thanks to Ashish.

PCGT: Public Concern for Government Trust has shown a film based on Gandhian values to kids in LEAD. We believe that watching films with values is going to shape their young impressionable mind and eventually their behavior. Thanks to Ankita.

Rotary Club Airoli – Rotary Club Airoli has helped LEAD by donating notebooks and old clothes.
Sprouts – Sprouts had organized Earth Mela an environment fest with nature trails, workshops, adventure games, talks & documentary screenings.  They waived the entire entry fees for 35 LEAD children and 10 volunteers and even arranged for their free meals. Due to their kind hospitality, the children enjoyed the picnic and got to know more about environment. Thanks to Anand. See Trip to Earth Mela

Save the Children Foundation: They are collaborating with LEAD in the WISE (Women's Institute for Social Education) project. They are teaching tailoring, embroidery, cooking to the women in our community for free of cost. We are only paying for the raw materials and the conveyance allowances for their 2 teachers.
